Bluff City: Century of Firsts

WOW what a great ride...this was the Memphis Hightailers first Bluff City Century ride and while not the 800 riders they had expected....definitely a ride well supported and worth doing again....

Congratulations to Donna, Dave, Alan and Todd on completing their first Century's...was a perfect day for it(and no they don't all have a granny gear hill in the middle the ride)

So when does it take 4 hours to get to Memphis????
…when you stop at the liquor store and buy $100 worth of beverages…
…when you get stuck at a train crossing for 20 minutes….in the "hood"….just a good thing Duke had lots of base pounding music….just need to get the jumping shocks….
…when you are looking for your hotel at 300S 2nd Street and your hotel is six blocks away at 300N…

Starting down on Beale Street at Silky’s where the dueling pianos had not yet started…a lovely voice was heard coming from the stage….after spilling my first Crown and Coke…I had to get my picture with the lady of then evening (you just have to close yours and listen…was beautiful)

I slipped out and just had to stop by the New Daisy Theater…the bouncer waved me in…Muck Sticky….. basically a party of under age pot smoking cool whacked out rappers…..they were GOOD! I didn't make it down into the mash pit but danced on fringes for a while (didn't want to get injured and unable to ride in the morning…guess I wasn't considering my fried brain cells

Was a perfect day temperature wise, sunny with very little wind... Robert said his thermometer registered 48F in bottoms.

Had a great time....beautiful roads...would never have imagined that close to Memphis.

Glad to have met so many new people....Rod, Arthur, Victor, and Anik....if you guys get over to Corinth give us a shout....we will show some of our roads.

Keep Riding the Edge
McCabe
